2026 Austrian GP Preview & Bets

It’s time for one of the best tracks of the year as F1 goes to Austria. Usually, it’s an exciting race, and several of the top drivers – Verstappen, Leclerc and Norris – have performed at a very high level here in the past.

Good performance at the Red Bull Ring is strongly dependent on the car though, and particularly on the engine. Once again, it could be a close battle between the two Mercedes drivers. Antonelli has the upper hand so far, but Russell is hoping to rebalance the score and he’s no slouch at the Red Bull Ring.

Ferrari, McLaren and Red Bull will continue fighting for podiums – and potentially wins, something that they did achieve two weeks ago courtesy of Lewis Hamilton.

Betting picks

Russell to win @ 3.00 (1.5 unit) (SBO)

Solid odds for Russell to win from pole. He could be challenged by Antonelli and perhaps the Ferraris. But we know he’s decent at this track and the car should be the best here. SBO are way higher than the rest of the market, though there’s value on Betfair too. (Fair odds 2.50)

Leclerc to beat Hamilton @ 1.72 (2 units) (SBO)

This is one of Leclerc’s best tracks and a mediocre one for Hamilton. They were close in qualifying, but Charles starts ahead and has the most upside here. (Fair odds 1.49)

Ocon to beat Colapinto @ 2.75 (0.5 unit) (Unibet)

Ocon slightly faster in qualifying and actually had a solid race in Austria last year. This matchup should be closer than what the odds indicate, although I do think Colapinto’s car is just a bit faster. (Fair odds 2.56)

Norris to beat Verstappen @ 2.50 (1.5 unit) (Bet365)

This is great value at Bet365, I feel like Norris has more pace than what he showed yesterday, and Red Bull struggle with reliability. It’s a great track for both, but their cars might hold them back. I prefer McLaren over Red Bull at this track. (Fair odds 2.22)
